The Ottertail Central Junior Legion team fought back after falling behind by five runs in the seventh inning, however, their comeback attempt fell short as they suffered their first loss of the season. Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale held off the charge to pick up an 11-9 victory.
A two-run single by Lane Dilly in the second inning gave OTC an early lead as they tallied five runs in the inning on hits by Dilly, Garrett Nelson, Gavin Pausch and Tyson Misegades. Betha-Hewitt Verndale tied the game at 6-6 in the top of the third inning and built an 11-6 lead in the top of the seventh, holding on in the bottom of the inning to secure the victory.
OTC had 9 hits in the game with Owen Harig, Gavin Pausch and Jayden Harig each collecting a pair of hits to lead the way. Pausch added 3 steals on the base paths.
OTC is now 5-1 on the season.
