The Underwood Rockets took a long bus ride to Roseau for a high school football game on Thursday night.  The ride home may have seemed shorter after the Rockets picked up a 38-16 victory over the Rams.  A 22 point second quarter gave the visitors a 30-0 halftime lead.

With 4:12 left in the opening quarter Underwood scored on a one yard run by Tristan Evavold and a two-point conversion run by Evavold.

Just eight seconds into the second quarter Evavold scored his second TD on a 2-yard run to make it 14-0.  Brien Poser scored a pair of TD’s in the quarter, the first on a 3-yard run and the second on a 5-yard run.  He also ran in both two-point conversions.

In the third quarter Aydon Severson completed a 45 yard pass to Steele Walsh for the first Roseau touchdown.  The two also combined on the two-point conversion.  Severson then hit Cody Otto from 43 yards out with 7:44 left in the fourth quarter and added a two-point conversion pass to Alex Wensloff.

The final Underwood TD came on a 6-yard run by Evan Lundgren and another Poser two-point conversion run.

“We were able to assert our physical play right away in this game, which we feel is very important to us,” said Coach Ryan Hendrickson. The Senior Captains, Evavold, Logan Schleske, and Jaxon Rich, followed their coaches comments by adding “this week we played with a lot of energy and fed off that. It was fun being able to get everyone a lot of playing time and play as a team. This was a great team win.”

The Rocket offense racked up 338 yards distributed by 10 different players. Evavold and Poser led the way with 4 combined touchdowns and Evan Lundgren also punched in 1 touchdown for his first career points.

Underwood was able to force their opponent into 3 turnovers, several sacks, and 6 tackles for loss.

Underwood will now change their focus by traveling 8 miles to the East to their first ever Varsity Football matchup vs Ottertail Central at Battle Lake next Friday night at 7pm.
