Knights Beat Rockets for Seventh Win

The West Central Area/Ashby football team finished their regular season schedule with a 7-1 record after a 32-6 win over the Underwood Rockets on Wednesday night in Barrett.  The Knights jumped out to a 12-0 lead after one quarter, led 26-0 at the half, and 26-6 after three quarters.

Anthony Sykora scored a pair of first quarter touchdowns on runs of 2 and 7 yards to get the Knights off to a good start.

In the second quarter, Evan Paulson connected with Cole Anderson on a 30 yard scoring pass, and Carson Spangler broke loose for a 44 yard TD run.  Mattson Hoff followed Spangler’s run by carrying the ball in for the two-point conversion and a 26-0 halftime lead.

Logan Schleske scored the lone Underwood touchdown on a 3 yard run midway through the third quarter.

A 14 yard TD run by Brady Lindquist ended the scoring with 4:20 remaining in the game.

West Central Area/Ashby had 196 yards of offense and Underwood managed only 34 yards against a tough Knights defense.

Sykora (8 carries, 46 yards), Spangler (1 carry, 44 yards) and Lindquist (7 carries, 39 yards) led the ground attack for WCA/Ashby.  Defensively, Hoff recorded a sack, and Sam Heeter and Colton Lindquist combined on a sack.  Reubens Swanson had a team high 5 tackles (5 solo, 2 assisted).

Schleske gained 40 yards on 12 rushing attempts to lead the Rockets and Julian Umlauf had 25 yards on 2 attempts.  Tristan Evavold led the Rockets with 4.5 tackles (4 solo, 1 assisted).
