The Ottertail Central wrestling team finished their dual meet season with a 10-17 record, but did have some individual success as they sent five wrestlers to the super sections, where four of them placed in the top four in their respective weight classes.  Four of the five return for the 2021-22 season, providing a solid nucleus for the Bulldogs to build their team around.

“I would like to see Logan Schleske, Tristan Evavold, Jaxon Rich and Brien Poser all punch their tickets to the Xcel Energy Center this year, along with one or two more,” commented OTC Head Coach Jason Rogers.  “I would really like to see improvement on our team record from last year.  We finished under .500 for the first time in quite a few years and I would like to finish above that mark again.  I think a trip to the final four in Section 6A is very doable.”

Jonny Fielding and Kale Rich are also experienced wrestlers returning, along with Elijah Fronning, Levi Evavold and Xavier Lewis who received valuable varsity experience last season.

“We had to put a lot of young men into our lineup last year, due to lower numbers and no one being at those weights,” noted Coach Rogers.  “I am hoping the experience they gained last year will help them gain this year.  We also have a few returning to our team from a couple of season ago that could fill some holes for us.  Julian Umlauf is a sophomore that will be wrestling 106 or 113, along with Tayden Soma, who will hopefully fill the other weight.  Those two alone help out our lineup greatly.”

Randy Witt, Ben Naddy and Ben Cole will serve as assistant coaches.  Coach Rogers sees the West Central Area Knights, Bertha-Hewitt-Verndale/Parkers Prairie and New York Mills as the top contenders in Section 6A, while WCA, BHV/PP and NYM are joined by Long Prairie-Grey Eagle-Browerville as top teams in the Park Region Conference.
