The Ottertail Central 15U Baseball team captured the Lake Region Babe Ruth South District Championship.  After three days of baseball OTC ended the tournament with a 4-1 record to claim the title.  After winning their first two games on Thursday, OTC fell to Parkers Prairie on Friday evening, 9-3.  On Saturday, OTC rebounded with a solid 15-2 win over Alexandria and then got revenge on Parkers Prairie with an 8-2 victory in the championship game.

In their Friday loss, OTC gave up eight second inning runs and couldn’t recover.  AJ Woodworth (5IP, 3R, 6H, 2K, 1BB) was the winning pitcher for Parkers Prairie and Trevor Rounds threw two innings of relief.  Nolan Steidl went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Parkers Prairie and Chavos Wendt had a pair of hits.

Leaders at the plate for OTC with on hit apiece were Kaleb Hammes, Ayden Olson, Gavin Pausch, Collin Lukken, Kale Misegades and Owen Harig.

Against Alexandria on Saturday, a ten-run sixth inning carried OTC to victory.  Eric Fick, Bradyn Roisum, Gavin Pausch, Kale Misegades, Drew Evavold and Ayden Olson each knocked in runs in the big inning.  Garrett Kuhn-Rice, Pausch and Olson all collected multiple hits for OTC with Kuhn-Rice and Olson recording three hits each.  Owen Harig had three of the 14 stolen bases recorded by OTC in the contest.  Kuhn-Rice (6IP, 3H, 2R, 2K) was the winning pitcher.

Drew Evavold (6IP, 5H, 2R, 4K) got the win on the mound in the championship game and Harig threw one inning out of the bullpen.  Pausch went 3-for-3 to lead the Bulldogs hitting attack.  Harig had a pair of stolen bases.  Parkers Prairie was led by Joe Johnson who went 2-for-4 at the plate.

“I’m super proud of the way the boys rebounded from a tough loss Friday and played their best ball of the year on Saturday,” commented Head Coach Evan Meece.  “We played phenomenal defense, hit the ball well, and had great pitching.  A great combination for success!”

OTC will play in the Midwest Plains Regional Tournament in Rapid City, South Dakota July 27-31.  Alexandria and Parkers Prairie will compete in the Minnesota In-Tact State Tournament in Paynesville July 27-31.
