The Underwood boys’ basketball team led 38-29 at halftime Tuesday night in Rothsay and the Rockets were able to pull away from the Tigers for an 80-59 Little Eight Conference victory.  Underwood had 13 3’s in the game.

“Our defense continues to improve, and our offense has really been feeding off of it,” explained Underwood Head Coach Kellen Shebeck. “The energy the boys have brought these past few games has been a huge improvement, and it really shows. So proud of their effort and the way they carry themselves!”

Underwood was led by Drew Evavold and Noah Link with 15 and 14 points respectively.  Cole Peterson and Hudson Risbrudt added 12 points each, while Owen Harig contributed 8 and Evan Lundgren chipped in with 7.  Kaleb Hammes scored 6 points and Gavin Pausch finished with 5 points, 7 rebounds and 2 assists. Peterson completed a double-double by grabbing 17 rebounds in the game.

“Rothsay did a good job in their zone forcing us to knock down some shots from outside,” said Coach Shebeck. “While as a percentage it wasn’t our best shooting night, we made up for it by hitting the offense glass with 18offensive rebounds.  Cole Peterson was awesome tonight. 17 rebounds, 7 of them offensively, and 5-6 shooting from the field. A very efficient night for Cole.”

Underwood (8-8, 5-5 LEC) will play at Parkers Prairie on Friday night.

Rothsay will host Lake Park-Audubon on Friday.
