Fergus Falls got their only run in the sixth when Kellen Stenstrom started the inning with a triple. Ben Swanson drove him in with a ground out to second base. The Otters let two golden scoring opportunities go by in the fourth and fifth innings. Swanson reached second base leading off the fourth on a single and an error. He moved to third on a sacrifice bunt by Colin Becker, but was left stranded. In the fifth, Carston Fronning led off with a double and went to third on a base hit by Will Gronwold. After an infield pop out, the Dawgs turned a 4-6-3 double play to end the threat.
Fronning reached base with a one out single in the seventh, but was cut down trying to steal second base as Gronwold struck out. The strike ‘em out – throw ‘em out double play ended the game and the season for the Otters.
OTC (18-3) will now play DGF in Perham at 2:00pm Thursday. The Rebels advanced with a 2-1 win over Hawley.
The Bulldogs scored single runs in the third and fourth innings to take a 2-0 lead. Owen Harig led off the third with a bunt single, stole second base, moved to third on a ground out and came in to score on a balk. In the fourth, an infield error with one out allowed Hunter Haugen to reach base. A double by Noah Link moved Haugen to third and a sacrifice fly from Kale Misegades brought Link home.
